Dr. Alok Mohan Uppar

I am Dr. Alok Mohan Uppar, Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. Over the course of my career, I have performed more than 2,500 neurosurgical procedures, encompassing a wide range of complex brain and spine surgeries. My key areas of interest are minimally invasive spine surgery, with a focus on craniovertebral junction procedures, functional neurosurgery including deep brain stimulation, and neuro-oncology. I am passionate about providing the best possible outcomes for my patients through evidence-based practices and surgical innovation. My academic journey includes an MS in General Surgery from Trivandrum Medical College and an M.Ch. in Neurosurgery from NIMHANS, where I now mentor young neurosurgeons. In addition to my clinical work, I have a strong commitment to research and education, with over 20 peer-reviewed publications and ongoing research projects funded by national agencies. I believe in the power of multidisciplinary teamwork and continuous learning to improve the field of neurosurgery. Beyond the operating room, I take pride in building trust and empathy with my patients and their families during some of their most difficult times. I aspire to contribute to advancements in minimally invasive techniques and to train the next generation of neurosurgeons to uphold the highest standards of care.
