I am Dr. Chaitanya Reddy Kanumuru, a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with focused training in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the arteries, veins, dialysis access, and diabetic foot. My professional journey has been shaped by training in some of the country’s most respected teaching institutions, each of which contributed uniquely to the way I approach patient care today.
I completed my MBBS from Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, an institution with a rich legacy in medical education dating back to the early 20th century. Andhra Medical College was formally opened in 1923, with the roots of medical education in Visakhapatnam tracing back to 1902. It is widely regarded as one of the oldest and most historic medical institutions in the region, and its close association with the AMC–KGH ecosystem is known for combining strong academic grounding with a deep commitment to caring for the poor and the needy. My years there built my clinical foundation and instilled in me the importance of disciplined bedside medicine and service-oriented care.
I went on to pursue DNB General Surgery at Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi, a historic institution that evolved from a small 16-bed nursing home started in 1911 and grew into a major public sector hospital. One of the distinctive features of Hindu Rao Hospital is its location on the scenic Aravalli ridge, but even more important is its long-standing role in delivering advanced medical and surgical care to a wide cross-section of patients, including the underserved. My training there strengthened my fundamentals in general surgery, emergency decision-making, and practical operative management in a high-volume public hospital environment.
I further specialized with DrNB in Vascular Surgery from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, where I trained in a center known for offering a complete range of vascular and endovascular surgical services with a strong interdisciplinary approach. The Apollo Vascular Centre emphasizes collaboration across specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, and interventional radiology, which is essential in the management of complex vascular disease. Indraprastha Apollo Hospital is also recognized as the first hospital in India to receive JCI accreditation, reflecting its emphasis on international standards, quality systems, and advanced patient care. My super-specialty training there refined my expertise in both open vascular surgery and minimally invasive endovascular procedures....Read More
