Dr. Abhay Chhallani

Dr. Abhay Chhallani did his medical schooling i.e. M.B.B.S. from the prestigious Grant Medical College and Sir J J group of Government Hospitals, Mumbai. In 2006, he joined the highly esteemed Sancheti Hospital, Pune to pursue his Masters i.e. M.S. in Orthopaedics. During three years of his training in Sancheti Institute for Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, he underwent extensive training of simple and complicated trauma surgeries, arthroscopy and joint replacement surgeries. He completed post graduate orthopaedics training with top honours, and was awarded ‘THE BEST RESIDENT AWARD’, a distinction awarded to the most promising trainee who has exhibited an exemplary performance in service and training. It was at Sancheti’s Joint Replacement Centre, where Dr. Abhay Chhallani developed a special interest in hip and knee replacement surgeries , under the commendable guidance of Padmavibhushan Dr. K.H. Sancheti. Upon successful completion of M.S. in 2009, Dr. Chhallani rejoined his parent institute i.e. Sir J J group of Government Hospitals. Initially he worked as a Senior Registrar but soon was promoted to the position of Assistant Professor. Having refined his skills in complicated trauma and arthroscopy in J J Hospital, he decided to gain more expertise in Total Hip & Knee Joint Replacement and advanced Arthroscopy surgeries. Determined to learn from the best in field, he travelled to Germany in 2011 and underwent a fellowship training programme at Klinikum Stuttgart and ARCUS SPORTKLINIK, Pforzheim. The immensely exhaustive , state-of- the- art training facility gave him a detailed insight and a world class exposure to the latest techniques in Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacement like Minimally Invasive Joint Replacement Surgery, Computer Assisted Total Knee Replacement and primary and revision Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgeries. In order to enhance his knowledge and experience in the Joint Replacement Surgery and pelvi-acetabular trauma, he joined one of the most famous Joint Replacement and pelvi-acetabular surgeon i.e. Dr.(Prof.) C. J. Thakkar. He worked with him at JOINTS MASTERS for 3 years. He was an associate with Dr. Thakkar at Lilavati Hospital, Breach Candy Hospital, Hinduja Healthcare Surgicals, Lakeside Nursing Home; wherein he learned and assisted most complicated Joint Replacement and Pelvi-acetabular surgeries. Computer assisted Total Knee Replacement was the main core of his practice and learning. Since 2015, Dr. Abhay Chhallani has been appointed as Assistant Professor at MGM Medical College, Navi Mumbai. His main areas of focus are Computer Assisted Total Knee Replacement, Total Hip Replacement, Pelvi- Acetabular Surgeries and Knee Arthroscopy surgeries. He has keen interest in research and has published over 15 studies in various national and international journals. To excel himself, in the field of joint replacement Dr. Chhallani has visited multiple national and international institutes like SriRaj Hospital Bangkok , . Dr. Chhallani is attached to Apollo Hospital, Belapur, Terna Specialty Hospital, Nerul, , Wockhardt Hospital, Vashi, MPCT Hospital, Sanpada, Criti-Care Hospital, Airoli. He consults majority of his patients at his AkshJyot Clinic, sector 17,Vashi & Vardhaman Clinic in Seawoods.
